The Stackz Wordlists / New Wordlist (Tanaka Corpus)
« on: May 30, 2006, 08:58:52 AM »
Not sure if this is the proper protocol for announcing new wordlists, but I'll give it a try!

I've made a new wordlist based on the Tanaka Corpus - a large collection of sentences in Japanese with readings and English translations. This is the first of 5 parts - this one containing 10,000 words in 100 lessons.

It's a lot to study normally, but a nice test of your interpretting ability. Some of the sentences have advanced gramatical patterns, others are very simple. A few are just silly - just the same, hopefully this will be useful to someone else besides myself.

I have the file for download up at http://www.makenai.net/stackz/ - and the administrators here are free to make it available in the stackz wordlist archive if it meets their quality guidelines.

I plan on releasing the sequels to this file, but it might take a while since I currently have to rename each lesson by hand (see the bugs section of this forum). I'd rather spend that renaming time on studying.  ;)

Stackz - Solved Issues / AutoImport Lesson(s) Bug
« on: May 30, 2006, 08:00:48 AM »
When I import a bunch of files, the lessons aren't named correctly. Upon importing 200 files, the final lesson name will be 'Lesson 100'. This is because the the lesson names are all doubled up and look like:

Lesson 1
Lesson 1
Lesson 2
Lesson 2
...
Lesson 99
Lesson 99
Lesson 100
Lesson 100

In this case, each file had 100 entries and was a tab separated SJIS file. This issue seems to be independant of how many files or entries I have. Does the same thing with only 10 files.

Secondary issue: AutoImport Lessons feature can't seem to handle much more than 200 files at a time. I tried to do 255 at a time, but nothing happened. 200 seems to work.

Tertiary issue: Since the lessons naming isn't working right (or even if it was) it would be nice to have a hotkey to rename the lesson.

Quaternary issue: How about just taking the lesson names from the source files you are importing from?

I tried this with 2005 v3 dictionary edition and have just now upgraded to 2006 with the same results.

Thanks!
